Little Wins, Big Impact: Supporting Recovery at The Park

At The Park, recovery is about more than treatment plans, it’s about real relationships, encouragement, and supporting people through daily life. Our Senior Recovery Navigators play a hands-on role in helping individuals set goals, regain confidence, and take meaningful steps toward independence. Their work bridges the gap between clinical care and day-to-day living, ensuring each person’s recovery journey is met with respect, flexibility and compassion.

In this blog, one of our Senior Recovery Navigators shares what it really means to walk alongside someone on their recovery journey, and why the small wins often matter the most.

What’s your role as a Senior Recovery Navigator, and how does it support service users’ recovery journeys?

My role is about helping people move forward at their own pace, offering support, encouragement and structure when things sometimes feel chaotic. I help service users set goals, build confidence and develop skills to live more independently.

How do you build trust and connection with service users?

Taking time to listen, without pressure or judgement and treating people with respect goes a long way. It’s often the small consistent things that builds trust over time.

What’s the most rewarding change you’ve seen in someone during their time at The Park?

There’s something really rewarding about someone re-starting something they were once really passionate about. One service user explained that he had played the guitar since he was 8 but over the years, he had lost all interest. With the staff’s encouragement, he picked up his guitar and began to play. Since this, his confidence has blossomed, he has saved up some money and went to buy himself a new guitar, he happily plays with and for the staff and residents here, even taking requests.

What’s one thing you wish more people knew about The Park’s support for service users?

Everyone’s journey is different, and The Park is great at recognising that. It’s about celebrating every win, especially the small ones! It’s not all serious faces and clinical talk, there’s a lot of laughter, creativity and proper human connection. The support is person-centred, flexible and the staff here genuinely do care.

Recovery is deeply personal, and at The Park, we work hard to make sure it feels that way. Through consistent, caring relationships and flexible, person-centred support, our team helps people rediscover their passions, rebuild trust, and feel truly seen. For professionals seeking a service that balances clinical insight with real human connection, The Park continues to be a place where meaningful change can happen, one small step at a time.
