At Maples, we assess each service user’s needs carefully. This helps us provide support and accommodation that fits each individual. We place people in environments that promote their development. Our goal is to boost independence, health, wellness, and social recovery. We do this with bespoke support planning, innovative delivery, and nationally recognised risk management.
We interviewed a service user about their time in Maples properties. They shared how Maples has helped them live a more independent, fulfilling life.
What our service user said
“The staff are excellent and have been tremendously supportive to me.
After leaving psychiatric hospital after 20 years, I moved into a Maples property. The first property did not suit me. I looked at several options before finding the right fit. When I saw my current home, I felt it was meant for me.
I have a key worker named Carmel. She is phenomenal and always seems to know the right buttons to press. Her advice is invaluable. She even arranged discounted tickets for Beauty and the Beast. Her efforts made a huge difference.
Although I have had a few lapses, the staff remain supportive. This place is truly great.”
What have you enjoyed about being at Maples?
“Living in my Maples property feels like home. I love the daily cleaning routine—it gives me a fresh start every morning. A special friendship has blossomed with one of the other clients.
I value my independence. I manage my own cooking, cleaning, and budgeting. Whenever I need advice, I turn to Carmel or another staff member. Their guidance always helps, and I feel very happy here.”

What is it like living in a Maples property?
“Living in my Maples property is truly delightful. The house itself captivates me, and every morning I tidy the downstairs area as part of my daily routine. Moreover, this routine provides a sense of structure and calm that I greatly appreciate. In addition, I enjoy connecting with all the clients; in fact, I have developed a particularly close friendship with one of them, which makes my experience here even more special.
We’re all independent as well, I do all my own cooking and cleaning, my own budgeting. But If I have any worries, or need any advice, I ask Carmel, my key worker, or any other member of staff and they always give me good advice. So, I’m very happy here.”
What has Maples helped you with?
“I spent 20 years in a psychiatric hospital and have only been in the community for about two and a half years. That transition was very daunting. Maples helped me face conflicts and adjust to life outside the hospital.

The management listens carefully. If a property isn’t right, they always try again to find one that suits you.
Living at Maples makes me feel happy and hopeful. I have discovered new joys in life. They helped me find a voluntary job at a charity shop, and I now go to the gym regularly. Maples has truly made my life easier.”
What are you proud of?
“I now feel more confident. I am proud that I can hold my own. My confidence has grown with the constant support of the staff.”
