Shadowing a Support Worker

“we have a fantastic service to offer here at maples and it’s my job to showcase this to professionals and users”

Building Meaningful Connections

Nathaniel, one of our dedicated support workers, takes a tailored approach when working with service users. He builds rapport by understanding individual needs and assisting with everyday tasks. His day is never the same—one moment, he’s taking a service user for a walk, offering social interaction, and the next, he’s helping another clean their flat, ensuring a safe and comfortable space.

Nathaniel finds great fulfillment in his role, sharing, “I feel very well supported at Maples, and my job is incredibly rewarding.”

The Compassion Behind the Care

Providing high-quality care requires patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others. Nathaniel expresses this sentiment beautifully: “I feel a huge pull to help our service users. At the end of the day, we’re all human. If I were in their situation, I’d want someone to do the same for me.”

His colleague Kieran also speaks highly of his dedication, saying, “Nathaniel is probably the best person to ask. Whenever I see him, he’s always doing something to help our service users.”

The Impact on Service Users

The support offered by our team doesn’t just assist service users—it empowers them. Jamie, who has been with Maples for five years, reflects on his journey: “I really like it here. Seeing how far I’ve come—it’s quite something. I’ve made so much progress.”

This nurturing and supportive environment allows service users not only to receive care but to truly thrive.

A Community of Growth and Support

The dedication of our support workers extends beyond their daily tasks. Their empathy and commitment have helped create a community where service users feel safe, supported, and motivated to grow.

At Maples, we deeply appreciate the hard work of our support workers and key workers. Their compassion transforms lives, and we are incredibly grateful for their unwavering dedication to making a difference.
